FLINT – Today, Sheriff Chris Swanson received the broad support of union leaders and groups across Michigan, signaling early momentum in his run for governor. The endorsements come after Swanson first announced his candidacy at an event in Flint on Thursday.
“On day one, I’m honored to receive the endorsements of leaders and friends that I have served alongside for decades,” said Sheriff Swanson. “I am running for Governor because I believe every one in our state has value and that together, we’re tough enough to win for Michigan. Union workers make up the backbone of our state, and I am proud to stand alongside them in fighting for Michigan’s future.”
Today, Sheriff Swanson is announcing the endorsements of:
- Teamsters Local 332
- Ironworkers Local 25
- International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 948
- International Union of Operating Engineers Local 324
- Dan Glass, Teamsters Local 332
- Dan Gaudet, Plumbers and Pipefitters UA Local 370
- Greg Remington, IBEW Local 948
“For over three decades, Sheriff Swanson has shown up for working people and demonstrated what true leadership looks like. We are proud to show up for him now,” said President of Teamsters Local 332 Dan Glass, who is also personally endorsing the Sheriff. “Whether it be fighting for fair wages, benefits, or better working conditions – we know Chris Swanson will always put the best interests of Michiganders first.”
“We are proud to support Sheriff Swanson, as he is a proud union member himself and a public servant to his core,” said Michael Randick, Business Manager for Ironworkers Local 25. “As governor, Chris Swanson has what it takes to fight for Michigan, tackle the challenges that lie ahead, and champion the rights of ironworkers.”
“Sheriff Swanson has the energy to get the job done that Michiganders right now, bringing with him a track record of results and a servant heart,” said Greg Remington, IBEW Local 948, who is also personally endorsing the Sheriff. “From handling crises to bringing a community on the brink of conflict together to heal – when the people of Michigan are in need, he shows up. We are proud to support his run for governor.”
